Bespoke Interior Design and Furniture in Lisbon — Lapa District
French interior architect Elsa Sibuet, based in Portugal, was entrusted with the complete furnishing and interior design of this spacious contemporary 200 m² apartment located in the elegant residential neighborhood of Lapa.
Location: Lisbon, Portugal — Lapa District
Type: Residential — Apartment
Area: 200 m²
Scope: Interior decoration, bespoke furniture design, complete fit-out
Located in a modern residential building dating from the 2000s in the Lapa district, this 200 m² apartment was already in excellent structural condition. Astesi Blue’s mission was therefore not to renovate the property, but to transform the space by giving it a distinctive identity that reflected the people who live there.
The objective was to create a truly unique and highly personalized interior for a young family who wanted a home that genuinely reflected their lifestyle and personality.
For this complete interior design project, Elsa Sibuet designed and commissioned the production of every bespoke furniture piece in Portugal, including the sofa, armchairs, coffee tables, TV unit, and consoles. Each item was carefully developed to respond to a specific need expressed by the clients.
The console positioned behind the sofa is perhaps the most striking example. Designed with an integrated display stand built into its surface, it was specifically created to showcase an art book at the perfect angle for turning its pages. A unique piece that is both functional and decorative, made possible through the close collaboration between the interior architect and some of Portugal’s finest artisans.
This level of attention to detail guides the studio’s approach to every bespoke interior design project.
To reflect the personality of the homeowners, Elsa Sibuet created a colorful, botanical, and distinctive interior where every detail contributes to a cohesive overall vision.
- Colours
The defining colour of the project is cactus green. Deep, organic, and sophisticated, it acts as a chromatic thread running throughout the apartment, creating continuity between the different spaces. - Materials & Textures
Natural linen embroidered with foliage motifs, selected for the apartment’s curtains, was also applied to the double doors, transforming what was previously an ordinary architectural element into a decorative feature. The upholstery fabrics follow the same palette, ensuring complete harmony between textiles and furnishings. - Volumes & Details
The finishing touch comes in the form of brass door handles designed to resemble branches. A seemingly small detail, yet one that plays a decisive role in the overall experience of the space. It is this type of thoughtful gesture that transforms a beautiful apartment into a memorable home, where every element reflects the identity of the place and the taste of its occupants.
To create a cohesive interior, choose a signature colour and allow it to appear across multiple materials and elements—textiles, accessories, joinery details, and decorative objects. A strong chromatic thread makes an interior immediately recognizable, harmonious, and unforgettable.
This interior design project perfectly illustrates the strength of the Astesi Blue studio: the ability to conceive a home from beginning to end without compromising on personalization.
For this apartment, every piece of furniture, every textile, and every finish was selected specifically for the people who live there. The result is a family home with genuine character—one that is entirely unique.
